Xavier's Convocation 2021
The 2nd.Convocation of the University
was held on February 6, 2021 at the
Rajarhat Campus in blended mode adhering
to the COVID-19 protocols promulgated by
the competent authority.
Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal presided over the function. Mrs. Sanghamitra Bandopadhyay, Director, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata kindly consented to be the Guest of Honour and delivered the Convocation Address. A total of 451 students were awarded their degrees.
A ceremonial procession comprising of degree recipients, faculty members and celebrated dignitaries was hosted as this day is the most special day in the academic journey of the leaders of tomorrow.
Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University presented a report on the University and administered the Convocation Oath. Keeping in view the COVID-19 yardsticks, only the first ten rank holders from each stream were invited to be physically present. Only 77 students were present in the campus to receive their rank certificates as well as degree certificates. The first, second and the third rank holders from each faculty received gold, silver and bronze medals respectively from the Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal.
Mrs.Sanghamitra Bandopadhyay, Director, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata called up the students' community to face the challenges of life with confidence and courage. She being the first lady Director of the premier institute Kolkata reiterated that everything can be achieved through hard, dedication and will to succeed.
Rev.Dr.John Felix Raj, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor said, " In this temple of knowledge, we aim to form men and women, who will be global agents of Vasudhaiva Kutambukum- the world is one family."
A large number of students participated in the programme through You Tube and Facebook Live. Those who could not attend the programme physically were asked to collect their degrees and certificates from the University in a staggered manner.
The faculty members complimented the students for their brilliant performance and urged them to be a light for other in building a just and vibrant society.
The programme culminated with a cultural programme performed by students.
